Typical Schedule

This is a general idea of what our au pair's schedule is like. Minor changes are expected each week. There will not be a set schedule for the entire year as our schedule also changes depending on the time of year and work travel, but this will give you a rough idea of an average week with us. We will be as clear and direct with our expectations as this will avoid frustrations on both ends. We also encourage our au pairs to let us know in advance if there is an important concert or event that they want to go to or a trip that they want to take and we will try our best to adjust our schedules to make this happen for them.

During the Week- School Year

All of our kids are in school during the day.

We will need help in the mornings when we have meetings- usually 2 times per week to help make lunches and drive kids to school.

You will be responsible for light shopping related to our children during the day while the kids are at school that doesn't take longer than 1-2 hours each working day. You will also be responsible for the laundry for the children, organization of their spaces and making sure that toys are put away (with their help) at the end of the day and that the shared spaces of the house that have been used by you and the children are picked up.

Late afternoons you are responsible for picking our children up from school at 3 and being with them and managing their schedule until 6 or 7 pm during the week. There are some random days that may be later if we have meetings or if one of us is out of town. There is a lot of driving involved and we need a solid driver. This we cannot emphasize enough.

Weekends

We will need help on the weekends with our kids activities typically twice a month. We will also have an occasional date night or event that we need to go to without our children. Typically, most months there will be two weekends free.

Summers

Summers are busy and you will work throughout the days that we are at work and then sometimes on the weekend if one of us is gone, we have a random date night, or are in a scheduling bind.

During the summer, you will also be responsible for light shopping related to our children during the day that doesn't take longer than an hour. When our kids are sick

We will need help with our kids if they need to be home sick during the day. Sometimes we know the night before when they will be sick, but sometimes they wake up sick and cannot go to school.
